Photo (A) shows a runner with a typical heel to toe foot strike. Notice how the leg is straight when the heel makes contact with the floor. This will not only send the shock directly into his back it also causes him to lose speed as he literally brakes each time his foot lands.

The exercises and techniques I use in my program brought about the changes you can see in photos (B) and (C). Here is a more relaxed upright style allowing the feet to strike away from the heel. This gives a springier feel to your running so you can get a better kick back from the ground to propel you forward - see photo (C).

How To Correct Your Running Technique
I'm sure you'll know the importance of which part of the foot you land on. However, in the 15 years I have been coaching runners I would say over 95% land on their heels and cause undue stress on their joints and slow themselves down. Ideally you should land on the ball to get the full benefit of your stride as demonstrated in the photos above.
Yet, when it comes to changing this, it's not as easy as it first seems. Unfortunately, in an attempt to land on the ball, many runners make thing worse by trying to place their foot and end up fixing their ankle joints which reduces efficiency further and usually leads to injury.
The same goes when trying to increase stride length.
Both these fundamental aspects of your technique can be achieved but only after you address your concept of movement and what I call body knowledge. This involves learning how to move with less effort by reducing the resistance many unknowingly bring to their running. I say, unknowingly because once something becomes a habit you won't be aware you're doing something that's not helping.
